About Us

After winning the King's College London Business Plan Competition Prize , iConcipio was founded in 2011 as a support provider using web-technology solutions. Our product, MePlusMe, is an online multimedia system that addresses the psychological and educational needs of higher education students. In 2016, MePlusMe was shortlisted from over 2400 other projects worldwide for the Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year 2016 competition in Berlin.

Based on our Protocol, we are developing MePlusMe in accordance with the Medical Research Council (MRC) guidelines for developing complex interventions. To date, we have completed two market research projects; one targeting counsellors working in student support services of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in UK and the other with students. The outcome of these projects highlighted existing needs and inspired the conception and the design of an online system as a solution. We then embarked into a Proof of Concept study with almost a thousand students from 5 UK HEIs. This project was funded by the Technology Strategy Board (Smart Award). During this study, uncertainties in the development of the system were identified, and feedback about the system's acceptability and feasibility was obtained. The implication of this study's findings was to ensure that the development of MePlusMe would reflect end-users' needs.

We are now focusing on assessing the feasibility of MePlusMe.

About meplusme

Using MePlusMe, students in their private space can explore their difficulties in various ways. They can either answer an interactive questionnaire that helps identify the challenges they are facing or they can go directly to a list of techniques where they can choose the ones relevant to them. Either route leads to a tailor-made set of animated videos. These videos present well established psychological or study skill techniques whose effectiveness has been demonstrated by extensive scientific research. Students can practice these techniques and over time, use a rating system to monitor their progress. There is also a social network that allows students to connect anonymously with others and provide mutual support.
